A Journey Through Africa: Finding Peace, Power and Connection on Retreat
There’s a certain magic in the air when a retreat begins - a sacred pause, a breath before transformation.
Day 1 - The Sacred Beginning
It takes time, dedication, effort and love to prepare a retreat, and the moment our guests arrive is sacred. Our welcome ceremony in the Pavilion invited us to quieten the mind, soothe the nervous system, and reconnect with our inner voice of wisdom.
Together, we began a powerful journey of acceptance, connection, release, healing, and self-discovery. My heart is full of gratitude to Nicole at @casamoja and LouLou @cocolicious_and_co for creating this sacred space and nourishing our guests with such love.
Day 2 - Sunrise Stillness
At dawn, the African sky blazed with orange and pink, a gentle reminder that we are part of something vast - connected to all beings and the rhythm of nature.
Here at Casa Moja, the early hours invite inner peace and clarity. As we breathe with the rising sun, distractions melt away and our hearts align with the harmony of the world around us.
Day 3 - The Power of Conscious Rest
Under the moonlit sky, we surrendered to stillness through Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra - practices of deep, conscious rest. These quiet moments allowed the body and mind to release what no longer serves, to process emotions, and to heal.
With the sounds of ocean waves, rustling palms, and birdsong as our soundtrack, we found profound peace - a reminder that slowing down is an act of strength.
Day 4 - Beach Yoga and Awakening Energy
The sunrise over the beach welcomed us with energy and joy. Our Kundalini Chakra Awakening practice moved energy from the base of the spine upward, filling us with awe and gratitude for this new day.
The salty sea breeze, the warmth of the sun, and the power of intention elevated our spirits - especially when followed by LouLou’s coconut, chia seed, and mango pots!
Day 5 - Yoga Meets the Wild
Yoga teaches us balance, and nowhere was that lesson clearer than at Haller Park, where we connected with Kenya’s incredible wildlife. Feeding the gentle giraffes reminded us that harmony in nature - and within ourselves - depends on the space we create for others to thrive.
Our purpose, in yoga and in life, is to move in balance - to live gently, and to contribute to the greater flow of life.
Day 6 - Mombasa’s Vibrant Heart
From the serenity of Casa Moja to the vibrant chaos of Mombasa’s old town, our senses awakened to spice markets, bright fabrics, and the rhythm of life.
We met local traders supplying Casa Moja’s fresh ingredients, danced through the alleyways, and witnessed Kenya’s heartbeat - loud, proud, and full of joy.
Kenya, you have won my heart.
Day 7 - The Call of the Sacred Caves
Our journey led us to the Shiva Temple Caves at Nyali Beach. Chanting Om Namah Shivaya within the ancient stone walls connected us to the cosmic energy of creation and transformation.
We honoured the inner guru - the quiet wisdom within - and reflected on our shared journey. We learned to find stillness within movement, and courage within change.
The Farewell - Under the African Sky
We closed our retreat with a sunset dhow ride, gliding over the Indian Ocean to the beat of African drums and the glow of a golden sky.
We laughed, cried, danced, released, and renewed. We shared food made with love and formed friendships that will linger in our hearts.
Africa has a way of holding your soul in its embrace - this is not goodbye, but a promise to carry its magic forward.
Until we meet again, may your hearts stay light and your spirits stay wild. 🧡
